Adjectives – As..as – Poređenje prideva

Znamo da se imenice mogu porediti korišćenjem komparacije prideva.

Međutim, postoje još neki načini putem kojih možemo izraziti da su dve imenice u nečemu jednake odnosno različite.

To upravo postižemo upotrebom fraze As … as  ili Not as … as  i prideva.

Frazu as … as  koristimo kada poredimo dve stvari ili osobe koje su u nečemu jednake.

• She is as tall as her brother.

Struktura koju pratimo je sledeća:

imenica (subjekat) + glagol + as + pridev + as + imenica (objekat)

S druge strane, kada želimo da naglasimo da one stvari koje poredimo nisu jednake u odnosu na neke osobine ili kvalitete, u samu konstrukciju dodajemo reč not. 

imenica (subjekat) + glagol + not + as + pridev + as + imenica (objekat)

• Ann is not as old as Harry.

Takođe, samu frazu možemo malo i preoblikovati, te imamo dodatna dva oblika: not quite as…as / not nearly as…as / not so…as.

• The new dress is not nearly as comfortable as my old one.
• The first race was not quite as easy as the second one.
• It is warm, but it’s not so warm as yesterday.

the same as

• My eyes are the same colour as yours.
• David hasn’t changed. He still looks the same as he did twenty years ago.

Than me / than I am / than us / then we etc.

• She is taller than me. or She is taller than than I am.
• He has more money than us. or He has more money than we have.

twice as…as, three times as…as etc.

• His house is about three times as big as ours.

As…as + possibility

• I apologize for keeping you waiting. We got here as fast as we could.

(Not) As much as – nebrojive imenice, (not) as many as – brojive imenice

• David makes as much money as Harry, but not as much as Ben.
• There were as many people as we expected.

Ove fraze se mogu koristiti ispred broja, kako bi označile veliki broj nečega:
